Beyoncé divulga trailer e detalhes de seu novo projeto, ‘Black is King’

A cantora Beyoncé lançou novos trailer e pôster de ‘Black Is King’. O filme dirigido e roteirizado pela artista estreia mundialmente em 31 de julho de 2020, com transmissão pelo Disney+. A plataforma de streaming ainda não chegou no Brasil, portanto, não se sabe quando o longa estará disponível para o público nacional.

Baseado nas músicas do álbum ‘The Lion King: The Gift’, trilha sonora do remake de ‘O Rei Leão’, o filme busca recontar as lições do longa de 2019 “para os jovens reis e rainhas de hoje, em busca de suas próprias coroas”, segundo material de divulgação.

Beyoncé e Black is King

Filmado em distintas locações, ‘Black is King’ captura pessoas e belas paisagens de todos os continentes, começando em Nova York, seguindo para Los Angeles, África do Sul, África Ocidental, Londres e Bélgica. No elenco de atores e dançarinos, há membros de todos esses locais, impactando diretamente o cenário e a coreografia da produção.

O foco da história é no empoderamento da comunidade negra. O enredo narra a trajetória de um jovem rei africano, que passa por “traição, amor e identidade própria” para recuperar seu trono, usando as orientações de seus ancestrais e do amor da infância.

I typically keep comments short and sweet, but I just watched the trailer with my family and I’m excited. 🎶please don’t get me hype🎶🤪 “Black Is King” is a labor of love. It is my passion project that I have been filming, researching and editing day and night for the past year. I’ve given it my all and now it’s yours. It was originally filmed as a companion piece to “The Lion King: The Gift” soundtrack and meant to celebrate the breadth and beauty of Black ancestry. I could never have imagined that a year later, all the hard work that went into this production would serve a greater purpose. The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey. We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books. With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy. I spent a lot of time exploring and absorbing the lessons of past generations and the rich history of different African customs. While working on this film, there were moments where I’ve felt overwhelmed, like many others on my creative team, but it was important to create a film that instills pride and knowledge. I only hope that from watching, you leave feeling inspired to continue building a legacy that impacts the world in an immeasurable way. I pray that everyone sees the beauty and resilience of our people. O trailer apresenta alguns dos convidados especiais do filme, como as modelos Aweng Ade-Chuol e Adut Akech, a supermodelo Naomi Campbell, a autora Tina Knowles-Lawson, a atriz Lupita Nyong’o, a cantora Kelly Rowland, além de Pharrell Williams e Jay-Z, entre outros. Muitos artistas que participaram do álbum ‘The Lion King: The Gift’ também estão no longa.

‘Black is King’ promete ser “um verdadeiro memoir da experiência negra para o mundo”. Além do filme em si, a produção conta com vídeos completos das músicas ‘Already’, ‘Brown Skin Girl’, ‘Mood 4 Eva’ e ‘My Power’.

Distribuição e direção

Para chegar à comunidade negra, ‘Black is King’ terá distribuição em grande parte do continente africano. Países como do África do Sul, Nigéria, Gana, Etiópia, Namíbia, Camarões, Libéria, Burundi, Senegal, Togo, Somália, Benin, Congo, Quênia, Costa do Marfim, Zimbábue, Malawi, Gabão e Cabo Verde, entre outros, terão acesso ao filme por meio de M-Net e Canal+ Afrique, do Grupo MultiChoice.

Entre os profissionais envolvidos com a equipe criativa do projeto, estão os diretores Emmanuel Adjei (filme ‘Shahmaran’), Blitz Bazawule (filme ‘O enterro de Kojo’), Pierre Debusschere (clipes ‘Mine’ e ‘Ghost’, de Beyoncé), Jenn Nkiru (filme ‘Black to Techno’), Ibra Ake (diretor criativo e produtor do vídeo ‘This is America’, de Childish Gambino), Dikayl Rimmasch (filme ‘Cachao, Uno Mas’), Jake Nava (clipes ‘Crazy in Love’, ‘Single Ladies’ e ‘Partition’, de Beyoncé) e o codiretor e colaborador de longa data de Beyoncé, Kwasi Fordjour.
